How Executive Coaching Works
Every coaching engagement aims to achieve a clear, meaningful, and valuable set of objectives.
Whether working individually or as a team, each coaching interaction has five key intentions designed to foster short-term progress as well as accomplishing your ultimate program objectives. These coaching call intentions include:
- Develop and enhance key talents and skills.
- Apply the principles, practices, and skills learned to actual business situations.
- Strategize how to accelerate success in the current business setting.
- Review and accelerate progress in skill building and implementation.
- Maintain progress toward achieving the most valuable business objectives.
Every coaching call is based on these key Optimize International principles and processes:
- Develop your mindset – Two keys to accelerating results are shifting mindset (or perspective) and changing actions. Addressing the mindset develops long-term sustainability and makes changing actions much easier.
- Build on your strengths – By leveraging your strengths and talents first, you’ll achieve faster results and establish a foundation to effectively address your challenges.
- Navigate – Always being clear about where you currently are and your destination helps ensure every process makes rapid and focused progress toward your ultimate objectives.
- Move up the levels of leadership decision making – Optimize International’s Levels of Leadership Decision Making™ helps you gain clarity on an issue, focus on what is most important, make decisions for impact, and create leverage.
- Align – Your learning and actions must align with your company’s most important business results, ensuring both continual progress and excellent outcomes.
- Create sustainability – The power of the coaching approach lies in helping you apply everything you learn in a way that helps you build understanding and long-term sustainability of your results.
Every coaching call revolves around a customized, client-centered process that includes the following five steps. Together, you and Steve Lishansky will engage in these steps in ways that are most effective for you:
- Evaluate progress – Each session begins by evaluating the business results produced, the skills developed, and the mindset or perspective shift you have integrated.
- Learn skills – Discussion during the call will help you understand, apply, and plan the use of key skills for your development and success.
- Plan business strategy – Utilizing actual, real business situations allows you to make all your work practical and business focused while building your skills.
- Take action – Every session results in a commitment for action, usually including a set of learning objectives and a series of business objectives.
- Reach your goals – Progress toward the key results is part of the success compass, keeping all aspects of the coaching relationship meaningful and measurable.
